The Moment of Truth: Series Finale Review
The Moment of Truth is finally here as is the final of this series. While I finished this book a few days ago, I've let myself stew on it a bit. I had such high hopes for this book. The conclusion of a great spin-off series from Grier's story. One that unlike this series ended with such a satifsying bang and awe sequence that I didn't have to maul over my thoughts.
The Truth of the matter is that this book had so much plot, story, and series arc wrapping up that it felt rushed. Almost as if the author was ready to be done and threw everything and the kitchen sink into to to tie it up with one last story. Hadley's quest to be good enough to be the Potentate of Atlanta... the name sake of the series itself was left unanswered other than a quick "in a few months, I will..." There's not set in stone conclusion to her quest. Yes, she got the man. Yes, she saved Atlanta once again. But... where does she stand in the grand scheme of things with the actual job that she's supposed to be training for.
That being said, I did like the story, but I wish it just had been spread across a couple of books instead of shoved into this one. Midas and Hadley deserved more. I'm sad to see this series go, but I hope that like Grier and Linus, we'll get to dip back into their world from time to time.
