Best Book Boyfriends of All Time

 

Valentine's Day 2021 is upon us, and I've been thinking over the last few weeks about those delicious book boyfriends that we can't help, but think about all the time.  This list is by no means comprehensive's, and is subject to this blogger's own reading enjoyment over the years.  

1. Rhett Butler - Gone With The Wind

Rhett, to me, is the grandfather of romantic bad boys.  While the book itself is controversial, there's always been a place in my heart for this southern scoundrel. He does as he pleases, and when he's had it, well, frankly, he doesn't give a damn. 

2. Christian Grey - Fifty Shades of Grey

This list wouldn't be complete without the tortured soul of Mr. Grey.  Again, controversial in nature, his story is equal parts heat, heartbreak, and dark romance. He may be fifty shades of fucked up, but I still love him. 

3. Reyes Farrow - Charlie Daniels Series

Son of satan. Ethereal guardian bad boy. He's my go to when I need a good re-read during a slump. He loves harder, and protects his family even harder.  The series has been over for awhile now.. and I still can't get this guy out of my head. 

4. Four - Divergent

Maybe it's the way he stares at Tris. Maybe it's because he's played by Theo James in the book. I don't know. His brooding had me at hello, and despite the ending that to this day I hate with a fiery passion, Four is still one of my favorites.  

5. James Frazier - Outlander

He may be #5 on this list, but James Frazier is #1 in my heart.  If you can love a woman as much as he loves Claire, defining space and time, there's not greater love out there.  The kilt and that accent... certainly helps, too. 

6. Eric Northman - Southern Vampire Mysteries

A Viking Vampire? Sign me up for a bite to the neck. While I do love the book series Eric a bit more in the story contect, Alexander Skarsgard's potential of this tall, blond drink of water has me re-watching the few good years of the HBO classic just about every single year. 

7. Adam Hauptman - Mercy Thompson Series

His werewolf was in for a long, perilous life when she set his sites on shifter Mercy Thompson. She may have started off as his annoying neighbor, but the romance between the two them is hot enough to make any girl swoon. 

8. Peeta Mellark - Hunger Games

Peeta took me by a bit of a surprise in his book boyfriend material.  I was whole-heartedly Team Gale for the most part of the first book, but after realizing just how much he truly loved Katniss from the beginning, I fell hard. Poison berries be damned.
