It's over already? NO!

 Series:  Alex Craft #7

Grave witch Alex Craft is getting pulled back into deadly fae politics in Grave War.

Grave witch Alex Craft has forged an uneasy truce with the world of Faerie, but she's still been trying to maintain at least some semblance of a normal life in the human world. So it's safe to say that stepping up as the lead investigator for the Fae Investigation Bureau was not a career path she ever anticipated taking.

When an explosion at the Eternal Bloom threatens to upend the fae who make their home in our world, Alex finds herself in charge of the most far-reaching investigation she's ever tackled. And it's only her first week on the job. With the threats mounting and cut off from half her allies, Alex can't wait on the sidelines and hope the fae's conflicts stay contained within their borders.

It's over. Fin. No more. No mas. Alex Craft has reached her ending. After finding this series so many years ago, I don't think that I have fully wrapped my head around the fact that Alex has gone off into the sunset.  I won't sugar coat it to say that the last few books held my attention like the earlier novels, but it was great to dip back into a series that I loved from time to time.  This final book, however, nodded to elements that have been missing for me.  A certain hooded figure even makes a small, but powerful cameo. I wish there was more with him, but it was just enough to remind the reader of their lengthy and dramatic past.  I was always Team Death.  Probably still am, but hey, we don't always get what we want.

The story arc is powerful and imaginative. The twist took my by complete surprise, and kept my attention long into the morning hours while I devoured this book. Was it the best ending I've ever read? No. Was it a thrill ride that I enjoyed? Absolutely.
