Review Tuesday: All the Kings Men Duet
Series: All the Kings Men Duet (Books 1 & 2)
Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition. In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I’m determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and would do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.
And neither will I.

I think I've gone down the rabbit hole with political romances, and I have to say... I don't hate it one bit. The Kingmaker, a previously published indie title, is one that takes a different take than the New Camelot Trilogy I just read. The Kingmaker is a decades long love letter about how two people from very different worlds and backgrounds came make an impact. Not only to their professional goals, but in their persona lives. Lennix and Maxim may not seem like they're a perfect fit, but deep down, the challenges they face as individuals and as a couple only make me ship them more.
But... without giving too much away... the ending of this book? Prepare for an emotional shock and awe. Plus, clear your calendar because you won't be able to stop yourself from diving into The Rebel King.

I think I'm going to need some time to decompress after this wild ride of a book. Even a day later, I can't get this book out of my head.
From fear, happiness, heartbreak, and back to happiness yet again, my heart and mind couldn't take it. There's something about this heart wrenching conclusion to the duet that makes me pause. After finishing at 4am this morning, sorry work, I laid in bed for a long time considering everything that happened in The Rebel King. Lennix and Maxim are put to the test. Their feet to the proverbial fire with decisions that need to be made that threaten to ruin everything. It's not until the very end that you see just how their story will fully play out. How it ends... I'll leave that up to you to find out for yourself.
Word of caution? Keep the Kleenexes handy.
