Throwback Thursday Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses #1

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.

Sarah J. Maas has truly outdone herself with her spellbinding novel, "A Court of Thorns and Roses." This mesmerizing tale is a fusion of romance, magic, and thrilling adventure, setting the stage for her next wildly popular series.

Maas masterfully crafts the world of Prythian, a land teeming with rich mythology and intricate court politics. Being loosely based on one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast, comes through so subtly that you almost miss the nuisances of Belle’s story and Feyres.  The romantic aspect of the book is beautifully portrayed, as a slow-burning connection between Feyre and Tamlin blossoms. However, it's essential to note that the book contains mature themes and scenes, making it more suitable for an adult audience.

The plot takes unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Political intrigues, treacherous enemies, and ancient curses add layers of complexity to the narrative, making it impossible to put the book down.

If you're a fan of fantasy novels with a dash of romance and an engrossing plot, this book is an absolute must-read. Prepare to be enchanted from the very first page until the last.  Trust me, my husband still hasn’t forgiven me for the weeklong Maas binge read.
